Second clubhouse1279 viewsHelensburgh Golf Club's 'Tin Hut' clubhouse in its second position. The original clubhouse was built in 1894 just to the west of the Old Luss Road, but it was upgraded and moved in 1900 close to the West Highland Railway Line at East Abercromby Street. In 1909 it was acquired by Vale of Leven Golf Club and in that year the present clubhouse was opened.

The Black 5 class of locomotive was introduced in 1934 by the London Midland and Scottish Railway. The class K-1 locomotives were ordered by the London and North Eastern Railway but were delivered after nationalisation in 1948; they were a modification of the K-4 class which had been introduced in 1938 specifically for use on the West Highland Line. 1277 viewsA previously unpublished picture from a fighter pilot's scrapbook of members of the RAF's 610 Squadron on summer visit to Arrochar from their base in Cheshire in 1938. In the background is a steamer at the now demolished Arrochar Pier, and the summit of the Cobbler mountain.
