Jack Buchanan1147 viewsAn autographed photo of Helensburgh-born Jack Buchanan, the international entertainer and Hollywood film star. Born on April 2 1891, he grew up in the town and was a great friend of TV inventor John Logie Baird. He died on October 20 1957 at the age of 66.

PS Jeanie Deans1147 viewsA packed Jeanie Deans pictured shortly after leaving Craigendoran Pier in 1954. The paddle steamer was built by Fairfield at Govan and launched in 1931, then extensively refitted after war service. She remained a passenger favourite on cruises from Craigendoran until the end of the 1964 season. The next year she went to the Thames and was renamed 'Queen of the South'. She was broken up in Antwerp, Belgium, in 1967.

Camis Eskan, circa 18401146 viewsThis painting by John Knox (1778-1845) shows the sons of Colin Campbell of Colgrain standing around the ice house above Camis Eskan. He bought the estate in 1836 from James Dennistoun, the last of the Dennistouns of Colgrain, whose family had owned the land for over 500 years. The Dennistouns were granted the lands by the first Stuart king Robert II, who had married into the family, and whose son Robert III and all future Kings would have Dennistoun blood in their veins.

“Garelochhead” by James Wright1146 viewsThis oil painting of the village as it was almost 100 years ago by James Wright (1885–1947) was acquired by the Anderson Trust in 2009. The artist, who lived for a time in Garelochhead, was a friend of the well known artist, James Kay (1858–1942) who designed the house Crimea on a hill at Whistlefield, overlooking Loch Long.
