Queen's Hotel Ballroom1424 viewsA 1934 image of the Ballroom at the Queen's Hotel, where countless local dances, wedding celebrations and other events were held. The hotel was originally Baths House, built by Henry Bell, who built Europe's first commercial steamship the Comet in 1812. The building has had many alterations but still stands on East Clyde Street, having been converted into flats.

Deborah and Ginger1418 viewsHelensburgh film star Deborah Kerr, on her first visit to Hollywood to make the 1947 film 'The Hucksters' with Clark Gable, met Ginger Rogers — a great admirer of her acting skill — one day when she visited the set to say hello. According to Metro-Goldwin-Mayer, Deborah insisted on having tea on the set every afternoon at four. Usually she entertained a visitor or invited members of the cast and crew to join her in her dressing room.
