Baird Telechrome Tube1008 viewsJohn Logie Baird is pictured demonstrating the Telechrome Tube, one of his last inventions, to the press on August 16 1944. The tube contained two cathode-ray beams, each scanning opposite sides of a clear mica disc. On side had a blue-green fluorescent coating and the other orange-red. It was the world's first colour television picture tube, and only one survives today in the National Media Museum.

On route to Paris1006 viewsPrime Minister Andrew Bonar Law pictured in The Graphic newspaper on his way to Paris for what turned out to be an unsuccessful conference on World War One reparations in January 1923. He proposed a scheme, which went by his name, for a final settlement of the reparations problem as an alternative to the application of force. However Poincare's French Government refused this scheme out of hand, and proceeded at once to the occupation of the Ruhr.

Evening with the Bells1004 viewsDave Dewar from Kilmun wrote "An Evening with Mr and Mrs Bell" in the style of "This Is Your Life", and it was performed in Dunoon on Wednesday August 22 2012 and at Helensburgh Library the following day for pupils of St Joseph's Primary School and in the evening for a sellout audience of 35. He also played the part of the interviewer, while Mr and Mrs Bell were played by Paul Kozinski and Janis Marshall. Musical accompaniment came from Alan Reid, who wrote several of the songs.
