Baird Telechrome Tube1008 viewsJohn Logie Baird is pictured demonstrating the Telechrome Tube, one of his last inventions, to the press on August 16 1944. The tube contained two cathode-ray beams, each scanning opposite sides of a clear mica disc. On side had a blue-green fluorescent coating and the other orange-red. It was the world's first colour television picture tube, and only one survives today in the National Media Museum.

He proposed a scheme, which went by his name, for a final settlement of the reparations problem as an alternative to the application of force. However Poincare's French Government refused this scheme out of hand, and proceeded at once to the occupation of the Ruhr.

He also played the part of the interviewer, while Mr and Mrs Bell were played by Paul Kozinski and Janis Marshall. Musical accompaniment came from Alan Reid, who wrote several of the songs.
