Helensburgh 1st XI 19701843 viewsHelensburgh Cricket Club 1st XI in front of the old wooden pavilion at Ardencaple, taken a few weeks before the pavilion was burned down by vandals in August 1970. The 30ft x 20ft building was at the east end of the ground and was erected early in the 20th century to replace the first pavilion, which was on the north side. The third pavilion, now a large clubhouse which has been expanded, is on the west side. New panel1837 views'Henry Bell' unveiled a new panel featuring information about the town, including references to himself and his ground breaking invention, on Helensburgh seafront as part of the bicentenary celebrations on Saturday August 4 2012. The panel replaces an earlier version which was one of ten put in place to encourage motorists to explore ‘The Clyde Sea Lochs Trail’, a scenic coastal route from Dumbarton via Cardoss, Helensburgh, Rhu, Garelochhead and the Rosneath Peninsula to Arrochar. Bandstand and Granary1832 viewsA view east from Helensburgh pier towards the old bandstand, the granary, and the Old Parish Church, circa 1908. The granary was a malt barn from the 1700s, and about 1900 part of it was converted into a garage. It became a restaurant in 1934 and was demolished in 1980. The church was built in 1847 and demolished in the 1980s.
