They are the late Betty Mundie with Margaret Huxtable at the back, and in front Gwen King, who supplied the image, Helen Healey and Irene Cullinan, all from Helensburgh except Margaret who lived in Arrochar.

Land of the Free2834 viewsA scene from the Hermitage Academy production of 'Land of the Free', one of the sketches in a school concert entitled 'Conducted Tour" which ran for three nights in March 1969. It was the brainchild of deputy rector John Robertson. Elizabeth Burns is seen as Lady Macbeth.

Glen Fruin School circa 19102832 viewsThis one teacher school was built in 1840, and the building still stands today as a private house near the Black Bridge. The photograph was taken by Helensburgh grocery manager and keen amateur photographer Robert Thorburn, and several members of the Thorburn family were pupils.
