The 29 dwellings had housed railway employees and railway construction workers.

In 1948 the property was acquired by the Archdiocese of Glasgow, with the surrounding estate, and the now derelict St Peter's Priests Training College was built nearby. In the background is a steamer at the now demolished Arrochar Pier, and the summit of the Cobbler mountain.
